The Labor Council is wrapping up its interviews with candidates running in the June elections so that we can focus on getting the next generation of supportive leaders into office.

Toni Atkins is February’s “Legislative Hero of the Month” for her leadership and resolve during the council’s review of the City Charter. The City Charter is like the constitution of San Diego’s municipal government, where the checks and balances between different city officials and its residents are spelled out.
Fall traditionally is the busiest time of year for organized labor to show its support for the United Way/CHAD Campaign, but I want to remind everyone there are a number of workplace campaigns conducted in the spring at companies where our unions have strong representation.
