Building a Movement One Neighborhood at a Time!

Have you ever wondered which of your neighbors are fellow union members?  Have you always wanted to ask the guy down the street that has a union decal on his truck which local he belongs to, but you’ve never had an opportunity?  Or, have you thought about striking up a conversation with the people in the only other house on your block with yard signs during election time that match yours?  Well, now you’ll have a chance.

Labor to Neighbor is using 2007 as a year to identify members who can serve Precinct Captains and become leaders in their neighborhoods.  We are looking for 500 members throughout the county who will commit to communicating with a couple dozen of their union neighbors about issues that are important to all of us:  healthcare, retirement, education, job safety, and job security.

We will provide you with the lists of union members in your neighborhood, and monthly written materials about issues that are important to working families.  All you have to do is attend one short training session and deliver these flyers once a month – on your schedule.

Together, we can build a stronger union movement, one neighborhood at a time.

Precinct Captain sign-ups are now beginning. The Labor Council will provide training sessions throughout February and March. We will also bring the training to local union meetings upon request.

If you would like to be a Precinct Captain, or find out more about the program please call Ryan Mims at 619-283-5411 or rmims@unionyes.org.
